Looking for a specific grind? Just make a note at check-out. Since the coffee is ground specifically for your order, we can do everything from extra fine to extra coarse. You can mix and match your two bags.

Coffee is roasted locally and packaged the week of your order. Most beans are roasted weekly to ensure maximum freshness.

The decaf uses a chemical free process called the Swiss Water Method.

The coffee:  100% single origin Arabica coffee sourced from the Atitlan region of Guatemala. Shade grown in rich volcanic soil, our coffee is produced and harvested at an ideal altitude of 5,200-6,000 ft. above sea level. Roasted at a light, medium, or dark level, this coffee has tasting notes of cocoa, citrus, peach, berries, slight floral, and caramel. The coffee is roasted and packaged at North Central College's Coffee Lab in conjunction with NCC's Enactus team.

The relationship: North Central College's Enactus team has a direct trade partnership with a farmer's association in San Lucas Toliman, Guatemalan on the shores of Lake Atitlan. This relationship has been built over the last 15 years. Prior to the pandemic, the team traveled to Guatemala twice a year to meet with the farmers. During the pandemic, the team has continued the dialogue with their partners over Zoom.

Why Direct Trade? The direct trade partnership removes the unnecessary intermediaries to ensure the farmers receive a fair price for their raw beans - almost double what they would receive through other means. The price is set by the farmer's association. This prevents a cycle of poverty and provides a more sustainable source of income where they can afford education for their children and healthcare as well as reinvesting in their small plot coffee farms. These are farmers that the Enactus team has come to know over the years. It truly is a partnership built around the idea of mutual empowerment where the farmers, students, and customers all gain through the relationship. Bass Fishing Life Coffee Company has had the honor of traveling to Guatemala twice with the Enactus team.

Through your purchase, you are not only receiving a high quality and amazing bag of coffee, you are also supporting a local business, a unique academic experience for students at North Central College, and ensuring that farmers can support themselves and not be stuck in a cycle of poverty.
